The Sterling Edge Sweep Insert blends the clearance of a backdraft with the straight wall cleanup of a 90deg flat bottom. The smaller flat on the side wall and the bottom of the insert allows a larger step down or ramp rate and provides superior finishes on straight walls and pockets. Combined with a carbide or heavy metal shank holder this insert is highly cost effective for deep pocket finishing on both pre-hard and hardened applications, eliminating the need to EDM hardened pockets or the frustration of trying to get desired results with expensive long fluted end mills that chatter and deflect.
Polycrystalline cbn is a highly durable material, similar to diamond in its composition and properties. It can process a wide variety of materials, from steel and cast iron to alloys of high strength and hardness. In addition, PCBN can resist oxidation at high temperatures. These properties make it ideal for cutting tools.
