It consists of fine particles of carbide cemented into a composite by a binder metal. Cemented carbides commonly use tungsten carbide (WC), titanium carbide (TiC), or tantalum carbide (TaC) as the aggregate. The cobalt content could vary from 5% to 23% base on application. 8% to 12% are the most common for cutting tools. Grade and Coating Description

MC5015 makes machining of high strength ductile cast iron easy. Will withstand interrupted cutting. Features new substrate and Mitsubishi's TOUGH-GRIP adhesion layer. The newly developed TOUGH-GRIP interlayer takes advantage of a controlled crystalline, nano-scale, structure to prevent spalling of the Al2O3 layer. The Nano-Texture coating has an extremely fine structure which provides superior wear resistance when machining cast iron. New chipbreakers balance cutting efficiency and edge toughness for greater productivity.
